Joseph E. Woodhead age 50 was my children's fourth great grandfather. Harriet Barnes age 37 was Joseph's second wife. Joseph's first wife (and my children's fourth great grandmother) was Hannah Secker. Joseph E. Woodhead and Hannah Secker were the immigrant ancestors from Wakefield, England for the Woodhead family in Sullivan County. Hannah Secker died in 1849. Joseph E. Woodhead and Harriet Barnes were married on 3 Aug 1850, so they were newlyweds when this census was taken. Strictly speaking, Harriet Barnes should not have been listed in this family because families were supposed to have been listed as they were on the official census date of 1 Jun 1850, irrespective of when the census taker actually knocked on the door. Joseph and Harriet did have one child, but he was not born until 1852. |

Sarah Woodhead age 27 was the daughter of my children's fourth great grandparents Joseph E. Woodhead and Hannah Secker. As such, she was the sister of my children's third great grandfather Vincent Woodhead. Sarah's husband was Ricbard Bedford age 25, but I do not know exactly when they were married, nor indeed, whether they were married in England or in Pennsylvania. |
