Johan Michael (Michael) Misemer was the son of my fifth great grandparents Jacob Messimer Sr. and Catherine Mauk. As such, he was the brother of my fourth great grandfather William/Wilhelm Messamore. The number of females seems to be one short, because Michael's wife Mary and his daughters Catherine and Barbara all should have been counted in 1790. Also, there seems to have been one son that has not been accounted for. |

Jacob Messimer Sr. was my fifth great grandfather. His wife was Catherine Mauk. Jacob was the immigrant ancestor for my Messamore line. He sailed from Rotterdam, Holland for America with his two older brothers. However, the family was German. Based on where the family first settled in America, it appears as if there might have been an Amish connection, but this possibility requires further research. My fourth great grandfather William/Wilhelm Messamore would have been about 19 years old in 1790, and so appears not to have been living with his parents. On the other hand, William/Wilhelm was not married until 1799 and so would not necessarily have been head of household in 1790. |
